FAQs

What kind of event is this?

LOVEBITE is a furry-run, kink-friendly, unashamedly queer dance & social night.

It was born out of long standing furry community desire for a night of our own in the Boston metro area, inspired by local events such as Prowl and Fascination, as well as others across the country like Frolic, Tail and Fang. We also owe a debt of gratitude to our friends at Boudoir and Indecent for their help in securing our venue, and running damn good parties in their own right.

Where is it?

We operate out of Union Tavern, located at 345 Somerville Avenue in Somerville, Massachusetts.

What’s the vibe?

LOVEBITE aims to capture the same energetic, intimate and communal spirit of a convention suite party - hot music from skilled DJs, an open atmosphere for everyone to express their whole selves. Dress up, show off, thrive!

We encourage our guests to push past their inhibitions or insecurities and not be apprehensive to talk to new people, dance together, make connections! Tell that cool person you’re nervous to talk to that you like their outfit! Be respectful of boundaries, but don’t be afraid to take a chance.

What can I bring/wear?

Variety and individuality are some of the most treasured aspects of our community, so guests are invited to go all out! Street clothes, fursuits, fetish gear, or just underwear & shoes - be the kind of animal you want to be. Our event is furry-centered but open to the kink community at large, no fursona required to attend.

Partials and hoods are highly encouraged over full suiting, as our venue has very limited storage space and cannot accommodate more than a few fursuit totes. Please avoid changing into rubber gear in the bathrooms as spilled lube can create a significant safety hazard.

Coat & clothes check is available for $3. Please see our code of conduct for specifics on disallowed items & decorum.

How do I get there?

Our venue, Union Tavern, can be easily reached by a number of public transit options. The closest MBTA rail stop is Union Square on the D branch of the Green Line. Union Square is also served by the 85, 86, 87 and 91 bus lines. Note that the T stops running around 12:30-12:45 AM, so plan your travel accordingly. For anyone new to Somerville, we assure you that this is a very safe area at night and mostly bike-friendly.

Can I go in and out?

As long as you keep your wristband on and are wearing enough clothes to be decent you can feel free to step outside for a break.

Is there food?

Our venue doesn’t serve food, but is located in the heart of a unique neighborhood densely populated with excellent restaurants and takeout options. Directly outside the venue is Bow Market, a marketplace with various counter-serve restaurants (with vegetarian & vegan-friendly options!) and cocktail bars, as well as a brewery and a pinball arcade the local community enjoys frequently. Food & drink can be enjoyed on their patio or inside Remnant Brewing.

Union Square itself also has plentiful food options, some personal favorites from your hosts include:

  • Bronwyn

  • Ebi Sushi

  • Hen Chicken & Rice

  • Highland Kitchen

  • Himalayan Kitchen

  • Macchu Picchu

  • Siam Ginger Thai Cuisine

  • Veggie Crust

LOVEBITE encourages supporting our local businesses and trying new things! If you’re coming in from out of town, consider checking out the food scene in Cambridge & Somerville at large - Central, Davis, Harvard, Inman and Porter squares are packed full of fantastic choices for dining before the event.

I can’t go, can I sell my ticket or get a refund?

Tickets to LOVEBITE are fully refundable up until 12:00 PM the day before the event. If you wish to sell your ticket directly to another person, feel free to handle that however you like as long as they arrive with the QR code from that ticket and a valid ID.

Parking?

Parking in the Union Square area of Somerville is extremely limited. Metered spots (free after 8 PM) are available on Bow Street and a few blocks of Somerville Avenue surrounding our venue. We recommend using SpotAngels or a similar app to look at specifics.

Be sure to pay close attention to street signage, as most streets in Somerville without metered spots are resident-only parking.

We highly recommend you take public transit or rideshare to our event or consider carpooling, as the street parking fills up quickly on busy nights.

If driving in is absolutely necessary and you’re unfamiliar with the area, go here for our parking guide.
